Old School House, Rufford This is a photograph of the `Old School House', now known as `Rose Bank Cottage'. Again, situated in Flash Lane, it was built by Lord Hesketh and remained the Village School until 1824 when the present school first came into use. Rose Bank Cottage then became the estate office where villagers could pay their dues.
Boys School opened in 1824 Erected as a Boys School in 1824, this photograph shows the building prior to major extensions and alterations in 1962.

Major revamp of Rufford School in 1962

Lady Hesketh lays the foundation stone of the major school extensions in 1962. Looking on are the Rev. and Mrs. H.G. Dewey. Also the architect, Mr. E.I. Linton and Canon Carol, Diocesan Education Officer.
