Just
as pupils of present times look forward to producing
their annual school play, these pupils pictured here
in 1933 were obviously proud of their production of
`Abou Hassan'.
It is interesting to note that there were three evening
performances and that tickets were on sale at 2/-
each. Costumes appear to be both imaginative and lavish
and the sets were equally impressive; scenes taking
place in a Baghdad market place and a room in the
Palace.
Present day productions are ever popular and not surprisingly
so, when such strong dramatic traditions lend their
support.
Another
group of aspiring actors and actresses from Rufford C.E.
School. Photographed here, in 1933, this group of infants
looks anything but happy at the prospects of their imminent
production.
And,
more recently in 1980, these children took part in a production
of Roald Dahl's `Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'.
